Three common acoustic materials
Acoustic materials (mainly refers to sound-absorbing materials) involve all aspects of life. In the United States, only 1% of acoustic materials are used in the field of music recording, and more are used in the construction and decoration of residences, hotels, restaurants, office buildings, stadiums, etc. There are three common acoustic materials in China, but each of them has serious problems.
The first is a soft sponge bag. This material has a very high risk factor, and the most bloody lesson was the fire in a bar in Santa Maria, Brazil in January last year. The fire killed more than 200 people and injured hundreds. The injured crowded all the local hospitals. From the live video and pictures, it can be seen that the fire was very big, the flames rose several stories high, and the fire lasted for several hours before it was extinguished. The US “Los Angeles Times” stated that this is the world’s most deadly fire in the past 10 years.
According to investigations, in order to create an atmosphere, the home band used fireworks to perform in the nightclub. It may be that sparks accidentally hit the sound-proof foam wall and quickly spread along the ceiling. Santa Maria police chief Marce said that the foam material on the ceiling of the nightclub is flammable and can only eliminate echoes and cannot be used as a soundproof material. “This thing is the soft bag we often talk about now. It is filled with sponge, so a fire cannot be flame-retardant, but will help it.”
In addition to being unsafe, its sound-absorbing effect is also unstable, because the sponge is made of raw materials that are constantly stirred, heated, and then pressed into shape. During the whole process, there is no uniform standard for temperature and strength, so the density of each batch of sponge is different, and the sound absorption effect is also different.
The second type is polyester fiber sound-absorbing panels. This material can be made into various colors, very beautiful and easy to install, but its advantages are limited to this, and it has no effect on the sound.
The third type is wooden sound-absorbing panels. Many companies have visited abroad and saw that the wooden sound-absorbing materials used by people are beautiful and effective, so they come back to study and also clad wood when decorating. In fact, this kind of sound-absorbing material with wood on the surface, the article is in the back, and the sound-absorbing cavity on the back is the real effect on the sound. Domestic companies often follow the example of installing wood on the surface, without a cavity behind, and of course there is no sound absorption.
